Deciding on a track by finding a suitable group first of all with the
same or similar interests. After this we then looked at music videos which we
think may inspire our own.
|
Selecting a track from the few we have agreed on as a group. Bearing
in mind the track needs to be challenging and interesting. Also taking into
account our budget for the video shoot and the resources available.
|
Conducting research into our chosen band/artist taking general notes
about them finding images and existing videos to accompany this, lastly
uploading this onto our own blogs.
|
Finish checking and uploading previous day’s work onto the blog as
this is the deadline for this task.
Then prepare for the research and case studies.
|
Research into 3
potential music videos that relate to our chosen track in terms of
genre/style/content and role of performance.
|
With the 3 music videos for each one take detailed notes using the
following structure, always giving a full reference (spread this over
sat/sun).
|
·
Synopsise the video
·
Video – conceptual, narrative or performance
based.
·
Themes & motifs.
·
Lip syncing, representations of stars authorage,
role of performance.
·
Camera/mise en scene.
·
Target audience, how are they attracted to buy.
·
Which ideas can we implement into our own video?

Word process previous notes
and hand them in as well as uploading as today is the deadline, read over the
next stage briefly (treatment).
|
Begin writing the treatment section which is basically a rough plan
on what we intend to do.
|
Day one of writing up our treatment, at this stage we will be
deciding a summary of the narrative of our music video and how it links to
the lyrics/sound track, the role of the performance and any conceptual
elements.
|
Day 2 of our treatment. Here we will discuss which professional music
videos inspired us and how through using our existing research (case studies)
and then lastly what makes the promo video different.
|
Day 3 of treatment.
At this point we will decide on casting and the actors to be included in the
music video along with the props which will be needed. Last of all the
location which is another key factor will be decided upon.
|
Day 4 of treatment. On this day we will discuss on any potential
ethical issues we may face and how to approach these. As well as this we will
also agree on a length of the music video (typically 4-5min).
|
Last day of treatment. At this point we will be collecting all our
ideas together and deciding on the last few points which include the audience
and where the video will be broadcasted, for example on channels such as
YouTube or any others we may have in mind.
